Curriculum for the Early Years Program
The early years curriculum at Redbricks is designed by early childhood experts keeping in mind child development milestones. It is age-appropriate, designed with learning goals across all domains of development (physical, cognitive, language, socio-emotional & creative), and implemented through a child-centred play & discovery based methodology:
Pedagogy for the Early Years Program
The early years pedagogy (teaching methodology) at Redbricks is carefully designed to harness young children’s natural sense of wonder and help them learn about the world through active & constructive learning processes. The following features are core to Redbricks early years pedagogy:
This is facilitated by the use of a wide range of concrete materials in classrooms for teaching various topics and concepts. Sense corners, heuristic play and a range of sensorial activities are planned to help children make meaning of the world using all of their senses.
At Redbricks, we use inquiry-based and project-based learning methods where children learn content by asking curious questions, planning their research, and conducting first-hand investigations to make new discoveries in learning.
Children learn content in an inter-disciplinary manner through the thematic approach. Learning of all subjects is connected to a specific theme (eg Fabric/ Animals), and children acquire skills across all domains of development through the exploration of that theme.
Developing rules and following routines, learning from peers and different adults/places, learning from different experts and places, recognising and expressing emotions, working with persistence, etc., play a vital role in learning at Redbricks preschool equipping children with important socio-emotional capacities for the future.
Holistic Development
The preschool timetable is holistic and includes the following sessions during the day:
Prayers and attendance as community-building time
